19th century James Yates one pint pewter tulip tankard. This one pint measure tulip-shaped tankard has a double scroll handle, with a footed base and a two-toned finish. It is stamped with the maker’s mark, “JAMES YATES 1 PINT” next to the handle, together with the number 8 above a crown stamped in the interior (generally used as a quality mark). There are also three initials stamped within a circle on the base (W.M.F) which were probably used to identify the initials of the tankard’s owner. Made by James Yates (1837-1881) in Birmington, England.
