Antique English sterling nut or candy dish. Manufactured in 1910. Stamped Ryrie Bros. Ltd. on the bottom of the dish/bowl, this attractive little service piece was produced, in England, for sale by the Ryrie brothers, in Canada. [Ryrie Bros. Ltd. was purchased by Henry Birks and absorbed into the Birks jewellery stores in 1914.] The embossed hallmarks on the inside of the base indicate that the piece was produced in Birmingham, England (an anchor icon), from sterling silver (a lion passant icon), in 1910 (the stylized letter “n”).
Length: 5½ inches (14 cm) at the longest point
Width: 3¾ inches (9.5 cm) at the widest point
Height: 1½ inches (4 cm)
There are very faint scuff marks, caused by use, on the base of the piece. Otherwise the dish/bowl is in excellent antique condition.
