Antique German Children’s Mugs. Circa 1890. We have three Victorian era children’s mugs available. Sold individually for $45 per mug:
- Presentation/Reward Mug. Mugs like this were made as gifts and/or rewards of merit for children. The gilt inscription reads: “For a good girl”, inside a floral border. Hallmarked: Made in Germany (very faint). Dimensions: 2¼ inches (6 cm) tall, 2¼ inches (6 cm) diameter. Condition: tiny nick on top edge (see photo), otherwise good condition.
- Lustre friendship mug. The gilt inscription reads: “Forget Me Not”, inside a floral border, which also includes a miniature farm scene. Hallmarked: Made in Germany (very faint). Dimensions: 2½ inches (6.5 cm) tall, 2½ inches (6.5 cm) diameter. Condition: excellent; some uneven/missed portions of upper lustre border are products of the manufacturing process and are not considered to be flaws.
- Circus mug. The main image consists of four figures — a ringmaster, a monkey doing a handstand on the back of a pony, which is bowing to its rider, who is in turn bowing to the pony and sticking out his tongue at the pony. There are two smaller images of clowns on the reverse side of the mug. Hallmarked: Leuchtenburg Germany. Dimensions: 2 & 5/8 inches (6.75 cm) tall, 2 & 5/8 inches (6.75 cm) diameter.
