Antique Japanese Imari hand painted plate with russet and cobalt blue central motif. A cobalt blue circular transfer image is featured in the centre with hand painted floral highlights in russet, green enamel and orange lustre. It is a footed deep dish plate with scalloped rims. There are four cobalt blue transfer images of bats on the back which signify happiness in Japanese culture. Unmarked. Circa 1890.

No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. There are variances in the glaze commonly found on pottery of this period. This is not considered damage but is noted.
