Antique Japanese Imari large vase in russet and cobalt blue with gold lustre highlights. A large and striking vase. There are two hand painted images of birds surrounded by a floral motif. The image is the same on two sides, followed by a complementary image on the other two sides, allowing it to be facing either way. See the accompanying photos for details. The gilt highlights are around the top neck with subtler tones throughout. Unmarked. Late 19th century.

No chips, cracks or repairs. There are slight variances in the glaze commonly found on hand painted pottery of this period. This is not considered damage but is noted.
