Antique Japanese Imari plate with bird in cobalt blue. A cobalt blue circular transfer image of a bird and foliage is featured in the centre with hand painted floral highlights around the rim in russet, green enamel and blue. It is a footed deep dish plate with a scalloped rim. There are four cobalt blue decorative motifs on the back. Unmarked. Circa 1890.

No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Minor loss of enamel. There are variances in the glaze commonly found on pottery of this period. This is not considered damage but is noted.
