Antique Ridgway transferware meat platter. Circa 1855. The floral transfer pattern is predominantly cobalt with light blue, burgundy and pink highlights. The rim is highlighted in yellow. John Ridgway and Company used the Royal Arms in the company hallmark from 1840 until 1855 when the company became Ridgway, Bates and Co. The supporting photos and links below show two other pieces that we have for sale in the same pattern.
The platter measures 13 inches (33.5 cm) by 10 1/4 inches (26 cm).
The platter is in good used condition, considering its age. There are very faint scuff marks from usage, four small (4 mm diameter) faint stains in the central portion (see close-up photo) and another faint stain on the edge. These signs of usage and age do not detract from the beauty of the piece.
