Antique Satsuma moriage biscuit barrel or tea caddy. This is a six sided (hexagon shaped) jar decorated on two sides with the same image of two male figures. On the other two sides is a fan, allowing the jar to be displayed with varying images. The lid is wooden with a brass metal knob and fits snugly on the jar. Hand painted in russet, gray, with white and gold moriage glaze highlights throughout. Unmarked. Early 20th century.

No chips or cracks. Minor crazing on the jar commensurate with age. The wooden lid looks newer and may be a replacement. In overall very good condition for its age.
