Antique Wedgwood “Basket” dinner plate. Circa 1890. This is an example of one of Wedgwood’s popular Chinoiserie patterns. In polychrome shades of blue, yellow, green and rust, on a cream background, the pattern was inspired by Chinese porcelain imports to Great Britain during the 19th century.
The plate is 10.25 inches (26.5 cm) in diameter and is 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep.
Very good, considering the age of the piece. There are no chips or cracks. There is mild crazing in the cream coloured background and a faint brownish stain in one spot on the underside. Please refer to the supporting photos for details.
