Circular dish by Canadian potter Karin Pavey. Karin Pavey began her ceramic studies in Sweden and is a graduate of both Sheridan College and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design where she received a BFA. Karin (b. 1958) is a well known Canadian potter whose colourful tableware has been exhibited in North America and Europe. Each piece is wheel thrown, hand painted and goes through several firings creating a lustrous, translucent surface. Each piece varies slightly in colour, pattern, size and weight. This plate features a vibrant design of three flowers on a raised pattern of blue, green, orange and mauve. They are encircled within two bands of mauve and blue with a speckled yellow background. The dish has a shallow pedestal base and an organic circular shape. Glazed and signed on the back. C. 1990. Just a wonderful dish appropriate for almost any special occasion.
