HB Quimper dinner plate. A hand painted polychrome faience plate from France featuring a blue bird perched on a branch with a floral and foliage border. It has a scalloped rim on a white background with holes and a wire on the back for displaying on a wall. This charming plate is a departure from the usual image of a Breton paysan in traditional costume. It is signed on the back with HB Quimper and dates to about 1918-1942.
Diameter: 9 1/2″ (24 cm)
Fine crazing throughout. No cracks. Inconsistencies in glaze and minor flaking commonly found on tin glazed pottery of this period.
