Three sterling silver salt spoons. Circa 1900. The two larger spoons are hallmarked on the back of the handle with the word “sterling” in block letters, the number 925 (alternate mark for sterling), the initials JR (the maker’s mark), and the lion passant, indicating that the spoons were manufactured in England. (See close-up photo.) The smaller spoon has the word “sterling” in block letters stamped on the back of the handle and is most likely also from Britain. Unfortunately, this hallmark can only be seen with a jeweller’s loupe. The three Victorian spoons are being sold as a set because the repousse patterns on the handles are so similar.
The smaller spoon is 2 and 3/8 inches (6.25 cm) long and has some age marks on it. The two larger salt spoons are 2½ inches (6.5 cm) long
