Vintage Coalport reproduction of the Caughley mask-head jug. From the 1960’s. In the late 18th century this type of porcelain jug was originally produced by the Caughley works (England). Coalport bought the leases and patterns in 1799. In the 1960’s Coalport began reproducing the mask-head jug to commemorate the pattern. This lovely jug has a moulded cabbage leaf body, a Bacchus mask-head spout, and a double scroll handle. The body is sprinkled with sprigs of hand-painted flowers in shades of pink, purple and blue. There is a bright border in cobalt blue and gilt at the top.
The creamer is 5 inches (13 cm) tall, 4 inches (10 cm) wide and holds 1½ cups (300 ml) of liquid.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or stains; the gold highlights remain bright and shiny.
