Vintage Continental brooch and clip earrings. Circa 1950. Continental Jewellery manufactured costume jewellery in Montreal (Canada) from 1947 to 1997. During the late 40’s and into the 1950’s Continental’s line of rhinestone jewellery was the main competition for Sherman Jewellery (also a Montreal company). Continental’s Canadian clients included high-end stores such as The Bay, Eatons, Simpsons, and Birks.
Brooch: 2” (5.25 cm) x 1½“ (4 cm)
Earrings: ¾“ (2 cm) diameter
Excellent! The prong settings hold the rhinestones securely. The rhodium plating is shiny and undiminished. The earrings are hallmarked “Continental” in block letters; the matching brooch is not stamped. The camera does not do justice to the lively sparkle of the clear Austrian rhinestones in this set. The brooch and earrings must have been a treasured set because they look brand new.
