Vintage Pairpoint glass “Paddy the Beaver” cup plate. This is the fifth plate in the commemorative series commissioned by the Thornton W. Burgess Society of Sandwich, Massachusetts. The plate features Burgess’s character, Paddy the Beaver, dressed in jaunty plaid shorts and gnawing on a branch at the edge of a pond. The plate border is a ring of gnawed branches. The Paddy the Beaver plate was produced between 1977 and 1979, at which point the mould was destroyed. The plate was designed and engraved by Alvin White. If you use a magnifying glass on the bottom of the plate, you will see the Pairpoint mark (the letter P inside a diamond) and the initials AW for Alvin White, the designer.
This dainty plate measures 3½ inches (9 cm) in diameter.
It is in outstanding condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches.
